Each course is a combination of theory and practical, with the emphasis heavily on the practical. Course materials include printed slides, extensive notes, practical Excel exercises and bonus handouts.

Course Objective: This one-day advanced course equips participants with the tools and methods to become a power Excel user; topics covered include:

  • Pivot tables
  • Data tables

Course Objective: A one-day course introducing Best Practice techniques to everyday Excel use. By implementing Prophecy’s Commandments consistency, transparency and robustness are driven into your spreadsheets resulting in efficiency gains, increased user friendliness and reduced model error. Topics include:

  • Introducing the Commandments – best practice guidelines for Excel, the 4 C’s
  • Clarity – planning, the Blueprint, structure
  • Content – assumptions, outputs, formulae, time series, linking workbooks, data tables, pivot tables, macros
  • Control – data validation, conditional formatting, named ranges, checks, protection

Course Objective: This one-day course introduces delegates to a number of advanced techniques used by financial modellers in Excel. Attendees of this course should have at least intermediate skills in Excel. Topics include:

  • Key Excel functions for the advanced financial modeller
  • Building and using time series, counters and flags – add dynamism to your financial models
  • Amortisation waterfalls – learn how to build a dynamic amortisation waterfall
  • The reverse ticker alternative to the amortisation waterfall
  • Scenario & sensitivities – using form controls for sensitivities, one and two variable data tables
  • Presentation outputs – multiple axis charts, multiple chart types, waterfall (bridge) charts, dynamic ranking charts, dynamic range charts

Course Objective: A two-day course introducing participants to a number of valuation techniques and core Excel skills for company valuation. The course is a mix of theory and practical, including a case study where participants develop a bank style analyst report; topics covered include:

  • Valuation theory basics – risk premiums, CAPM, betas
  • Return on equity and terminal values
  • Absolute valuation methods – dividend discount, free cash flow to equity, residual income
  • Market based valuation – price/earnings, price/book value, enterprise value
  • Excel skills for company valuation
  • Developing an analyst report
